S.A.L.T. BOOKS

DISCIPLESHIP SERIES

The Discipleship Series is used in a small group context. The first book, God’s Story, focuses on the four movements of the biblical story which summarizes the gospel message – Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. This is followed by the first implication of the gospel – our changed identity in Christ. The God’s Family, and God’s Mission books further explain how to live and love like Jesus – additional implications of the gospel. At Impact we call these implications the Gospel Effect. The three books together complete the content for what it means to be a disciple and make an impact for God’s kingdom in our spheres of influence. Everyone in our church will be given the opportunity to go through the discipleship series in a small group at some point in their journey of growth at Impact.

S.A.L.T. I SERIES

Students will be nominated by a leader in the church for three 8-week studies during a yearlong training. While they are attending the courses, students will be serving in a ministry, and developing a relationship with a mentor. The first course covers the big picture or “theological foundations” for ministry. It is a philosophy of ministry with more reading than the other studies. The second study is practical and focused on small group leadership, and putting into practice the content from the first course. The final study is a workshop using the God’s Story curriculum. This study will be utilized to instruct students on how to disciple a group of people in the gospel. Ideally, everyone in S.A.L.T. 1 will be leading in some capacity within a smaller group context during the last trimester – learning how to lead the discipleship process.

S.A.L.T. II SERIES

Some students who have completed S.A.L.T. 1 may be nominated by an elder or deacon in the church for an additional year long training, again consisting of three 8-week courses. Students in S.A.L.T. 2 will either follow the elder or deacon development track. Both tracks will begin with a study of the Book of Acts. Then, they will divide into two separate groups designed to focus on the issues related to the type of ministry (elder or deacon) for which they have been nominated. All of the courses will be cohort based with Socratic discussions.

S.A.L.T. Podcast

Along with the literature, we offer a 20-30 minute podcast where our hosts Judy and John interview Pastor Mike and Ryan to get at the heart of the issues contained in each session of every book. So far, the SALT 1 books are complete. The Discipleship Series is being recorded currently. SALT 2 books will be covered sometime in 2026-2028. Look for updates.
