"Think About It"
- Read the “Think About It” section on pages 61-63 of Quiet Strength: Men's Bible Study
- An excerpt:
The Bible gives very little detail about a man named Enoch. We can read about his lineage in various passages; in the book of Jude tells us that Enoch gave a prophecy about God's judgment. But Enoch is best remembered for one simple sentence in Genesis 5:24: "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away" (NIV).
Enoch's remembrance is short, simple -- and powerful. Enoch walked with God. This simple sentence says so much because we know what's behind "walking with God." We are well aware of the striving, discipline, obedience, and love for others that come with walking with God. We understand the sacrifice and joy surrounding an intimate friendship with our Creator.
What more could a man want or aspire to be? What greater legacy could a person leave?
Join in the discussion by using the comments section below to post your responses to the questions on Page 62-63 of Quiet Strength: Men's Bible Study:
Imagine for a moment that God is going to write a one-sentence summary of your life similar to the summary He gave us of Enoch in His Word. In the comments section below, write down what you think God would write based on your life thus far. Then write down what you hope that summary would say at the end of your life.
- Summary of life so far: ________________________
- Summary I hope for: ________________________
Use the comments section below to note your responses to the following:
- Explain how and why your two statements (from above) are different.
- If you died today, how satisfied would you be of the legacy you have left?
- What do you want to accomplish before you die?
