Coach Dungy Quotes From Quiet Strength Chapter Eighteen: An Unforgettable Season

Higher priorities, such as spending time with God and family, must not be afterthoughts jammed into your schedule. But doing so requires faith - faith in your preparation, faith in your outcome, and for me, faith that God is watching over me, even when I can't understand His plan.

I will bless the Lord, and praise for Him will always be in my mouth. I explained that those words were taken from Psalm 34, which David wrote. David didn't write that at a time of triumph. He wrote it when he was on the run from Saul, fleeing for his life in desperation. Even so, he was able to say that he would constantly praise God and bless Him. That's not easy to do. In fact, it's difficult at times. The only way we can praise God at all times is to remember that God can provide joy in the midst of a sad occasion. Our challenge today is to find that joy.

Times will get tough. God doesn't promise that once we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior we'll be protected from harm and pain and stress. But He does promise that He'll be there to lean on during those times.

Why do bad things happen? I don't know. But I do know that God has the answers, I know He loves me, and I know He has a plan - whether it makes sense to me or not. Rather than asking why, I'm asking what. What can I learn from this? What can I do for God's glory and to help others?
