2 Timothy 3:14-17
The Bible is our instruction book for life.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true…” (2 Timothy 3:16)
What Is the Bible?
IT’S KNOT A PROBLEM!
You’ll need a length of rope or clothesline. It should be at least a foot long.
With your family, read 2 Timothy 3:16 out loud once or twice. Then try writing the verse in your own words.
Without God’s Word, it’s impossible to know how to live a life that pleases God.
It’s like this:
Hold one end of a rope in each hand, and tie a knot without letting go of the ends.
Seems impossible, right?
But there’s a solution!
Lay the rope out straight on a table.
Fold your arms over your chest so your hands go through the opposite elbow—one above, and one below. Lean over and pick up the ends of the rope with your arms still folded.
Unfold your arms by pulling them apart.
There’s the knot you were trying to tie!
ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:
• How is that like facing problems in our lives that seem impossible to solve?
• How can we encourage each other to rely on God to help us with our problems?
Set the knotted rope you made in a place where you’ll all see it this week. Every time you look at the rope, remember that God can solve all of your “impossible” problems!
Pick any problem that comes up during the week. Sit down together, and determine what the Bible says to do to solve it. The concordance in the back of your Bible is a great place to look for specific Scriptures to help you out!
When you try to live your life without God’s guidance, it seems impossible to make good decisions, just like it seems impossible to tie that knot. But the Bible teaches us to do what’s right.
