God speaks through the Bible.
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
God Speaks Through the Bible
LET IT SHINE!
Read Psalm 119:105 out loud several times. That’ll help the verse stick to the roof of your brain!
Then try this:
Hide your eyes, and have a family member hide a “treasure” in the room. The treasure can be a toy or a snack. Make the room as dark as possible. Now try to find the treasure in the dark.
Kind of hard, huh?
Try again, this time using a flashlight.
Life without God is like living in the dark.
When you study the Bible, you can learn what God’s Word says about the choices you have to make. It’s like having a light in the darkness.
With your family, sit down with a Bible and think of a few tough choices people in your family have to make. (You might want to turn on the lights first.) Use the Bible to find what God has to say about those choices.
TALK ABOUT THESE QUESTIONS:
- How is the Bible like a flashlight?
- Why do you think God gave us the Bible?
- When has God’s Word helped our family make a tough choice?
- How can we follow God’s Word in our everyday choices?
Spend 10 minutes reading either Psalms or Proverbs together as a family this week. Talk about how God is speaking to each of you through those words.
When you try to live your life without God’s guidance, it seems impossible to
make good decisions, just like it seems impossible to tie that knot. But the Bible
teaches us to do what’s right.
