Stir

As familiarity and routine become a part of our experience with God, we can often times lose motivation and excitement.  This leads us to a place of discontentment, discouragement and even disobedience.  However, a personal relationship with God is something that should be vibrant and ever increasing.  In our passage today, we see that Jesus challenges a man on what he knows versus trusting in Jesus and something new.

Like the angel who stirred the Bethesda pool, Jesus comes to “stir sinners”— to comfort the afflicted, but also to afflict the comfortable, to stir them in preparation for the life only found in Him.
