Selflessness; the Bible teaches us this message. Paul instructs us in the Book of Philippians that we are to do nothing out of selfish ambition. We are to value others above ourselves and their interests above our own.
Paul teaches that putting others before satisfying our own wants and needs is one of the most important actions we can do as Christians. This recurring theme in the Bible impacts many areas of our lives and ultimately points people to Jesus. However, we live in a world that teaches us to promote self above all; “look out for #1”
Jesus told His disciples to “deny yourself” and here in the second chapter of the book of Philippians Paul repeatedly encourages the Christian to be selfless and not selfish.
The consistent theme of Philippians is joy. But this is joy based not on circumstances it’s based on a life totally committed to follow Jesus Christ. Have you found the Joy of living a selfless life?
