Sex is a wonderful gift given by God to a husband and wife in marriage. This gift was designed to compete - or consummate - the mystery of two people becoming one flesh. Like so many others, this gift from God has been perverted and twisted into something it was never intended to be. From the time we are young, we have exposures and experiences that pervert our sexuality, and we bring these perversions into the marriage bed. What should be defined by humility and sacrifice has been replaced by pride and selfishness. Sexual sin is perhaps the most destructive force in any marriage, tearing people apart and dividing what God has joined together. But there is hope. Even our sexuality is subject to the Holy Spirit. He can tear down the sinful construct of our sexual past and rebuild intimacy into our marriage.
