We’re all moved by stories of people who lived great lives. There’s something in us that wants our lives to be great as well. How we describe “greatness,” however, isn’t what God calls “greatness.” Greatness isn’t measured by power, authority or accolades. To be great in His eyes means to humbly serve everyone around us, and to do so without any desire for recognition or reward. The Holy Spirit gives us gifts, not to impress others or to elevate ourselves, but to serve others and build them up in their Faith. In Christ, we have the truest example of greatness. He came to serve, not to be served - to humble Himself and to lay down His life. His example shows us: We must descend into greatness!
