Thank you for giving your Impact church family the opportunity to share with you in dedicating your child(ren) to the Lord. The child dedication ceremony is intended to be a covenant between you and God on behalf of your son and/or daughter. In dedicating your child, you are acknowledging God’s sovereignty over his/her life and promising to raise your child(ren) in the Christian faith until they are old enough to make their own decision to trust in Christ.

As you know, there is no greater privilege and responsibility than caring for the kids God has entrusted to you. In Deuteronomy 6:5-7, God tells His people, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Our desire is to support you as you respond faithfully to this extraordinary call.

The child dedication ceremony at Impact is designed to commission you as parents to take seriously your responsibility to give your child(ren) love, discipline, instruction, and a clear example of what it means to love Jesus with all that you are. You will be charged to make your home a school for Christian instruction, to model godly living, to raise your kid(s) in the fear of the Lord, and to continually lead them to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Please prayerfully consider whether or not you are willing and/or able to pursue these with the grace God affords.

The extended family (i.e. grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc.) also plays an integral role in praying and caring for both parents and child, and is therefore welcome to join the family up front during the ceremony.

Finally, parents are welcome and even encouraged to share a Bible verse or a Scriptural blessing that they feel God has given them for their child(ren). This isn’t a requirement, but something we ask parents to prayerfully consider.
